Gladys Laverne Swartz went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2015.  She was born December 17, 1922 in Homestead Montana, the fifth of ten children of Orin W. Root and Nellie (nee Neisinger) Root.  Gladys spent her early childhood and attended school near Monroe Washington.  In 1948 she met and married Warren Swartz and they would have celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary this November.  They had two daughters, Rose Mary (Carl) Eby of Snohomish, Washington, and Rebekah (Becky) Swartz of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

In 1960 Gladys and Warren moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho where they resided for forty-five years before they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 2005.  She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, attended the First Baptist Church in Coeur d’Alene, and was a faithful follower of Christ her entire life.

She enjoyed working in her flower garden which was a showcase on the street.

She also enjoyed scrap-booking, arranging flowers, and various other crafts.

Gladys is survived by her loving husband, Warren Swartz, her two daughters, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and two sisters.

Yates Funeral Home of Coeur d’Alene Idaho is in charge of the arrangements.
