Remains found in Kootenai River identified

The skeletal remains found in the Kootenai River on a gravel bar Oct. 12 have been identified as a Libby man who had been missing for more than a year. According to press release issued Oct. 26 by the Sheriff's Office in Lincoln County, Montana, the Boundary County coroner has confirmed the identity as William "Bill" Steven Tebby. Investigators of the Sheriff's Office notified family members immediately following the notification by officials. The coroner has not yet announced the cause and manner of death.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office plans to continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Tebby's disappearance in the spring of 2014. Tebby, 32, was last seen at a few bars in Libby, Montana on Mineral Avenue the night of May 29 and early morning hours of May 30.
