Shopko to come to Bonners Ferry
The Boundary Economic Development Council and the Bonners Ferry Urban Renewal Agency are pleased to announce that a development group from Utah has purchased property on the South Hill in Bonners Ferry for a retail development. According to the developer, construction will start in early 2016 for a Shopko Hometown store, a retail format that is aimed at the needs of smaller communities.
The property is located within the Bonners Ferry Urban Renewal District, and the Urban Renewal Agency will be working with the developer on the public infrastructure required for the development.
Boundary Economic Development Council Director David Sims said the project has been three years in the making.
“We’re hoping with the addition of Shopko it will reduce the leakage of shoppers that head south for their goods,” he said.
The new development will be located next to the Kootenai Valley Motel.
