Eugenia (Jean) Rosin Wedel

| April 6, 2016 3:00 AM

Eugenia (Jean) Rosin Wedel passed away on February 17, 2016 at her home near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Funeral services were held February 22, 2016, at Mt. View Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Ministers Shane Ensz and Willis Dyck officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery
Minister Glenn Ensz officiating.

Jean was born July I. 1933, to Gustave and Ruby Cummings Rosin, in Missoula, Montana, where she also spent her growing up years. Her mother was a Bible scholar and saw to it that her daughter would know the Scriptures, especially the Old Testament. Her life had its hardships even in childhood when at 11 years old, her parents separated.

Married life for Jean began in Missoula, when she exchanged vows with DeWayne Wedel of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. The young couple lived in Missoula for a time and also spent a number of years in Oregon on DeWayne's logging jobs at Coos Bay and Springfield and then back to Missoula for more logging. One daughter and four sons were born during these twelve years before they pocked up and moved to Bonners
Ferry when Rodney, the youngest, was six months old and Deborah, the oldest, was in 5"" grade. The other three sons were sandwiched between, making it a busy household when they took over the Grandpa Wedel home place at the end of Fawn Lane.

The farm was a great place to grow up on with lots of room and lots of work dairying. As yet there was no running water, so homemaking had that added challenge. Mom was unassuming and in spite of many obstacles showed a cheerful countenance. Her children's happiness was important to her. For herself she didn't expect much, being content with her garden and hobbies which included growing irises, African
violets, day lilies, peonies, and later orchids.

In later years she continued to enjoy her flowers and garden and many hobbies. These included her knitting machine where she created sweaters, blankets, and other baby things to sell or give away as gifts, ceramics from her own kiln, and embroidery. Her interest in crafts she got from her father. The materials she donated to the Sewing made many a bright and cozy baby blanket. Other fabric was cut into strips for the ladies crocheting rugs. A real worker, she will be missed.

Last fall Jean was diagnosed with cancer that had spread beyond any hope of controlling. She continued about her duties as much as she could. In the last week she was confined to her bed where she peacefully passed away, with her family near, the evening of February 17*, 2016. It seems more may have transpired in her passing than while living. She kept her faith in God and left a testimony of grace and
peace. The family was blessed with a softening and a realization of Truth. This gift of her faith and love, though often taken for granted, is recognized by the family as the glue that held them together, and it brought her through her final struggles to the victory.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband DeWayne Wedel. Bonners Ferry. Idaho, daughter Deborah Wedel, Missoula. Montana, sons Michael Wedel. Douglas Wedel. and Derwin Wedel, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Rodney and Marsha Wedel and their two children Mikayla and Wyndell of Tonasket, Washington, one brother Ronnie Rosin of Lewis, Delaware; one step-brother Larry Larson, Missoula. Montana; and one cousin Joan Baier of Missoula, Montana She was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law Vernon and Bertha Wedel, one step-sister Diane Larson of Arizona, and one brother-in-law.
