Boundary County involved in grizzly bear resolution

In December 2014, the Alliance for the Wild Rockies filed a petition with the United States Fish and Wildlife Services to list the Cabinet-Yaak grizzly bears as an endangered species and to designate the habitat in the Cabinet-Yaak ecosystem to the grizzly bears.
In February 2016, a lawsuit was filed against the FWS alleging it ignored decades of science relating to the grizzly bear population.
At a Boundary County Commissioners meeting in late March, with the assistance of Attorney Tevis Hull, the unanimous agreement was made to intervene with the grizzly bear uplisting.
By intervening, the Commissioners agree with the FWS that the grizzly bears should not to be on the endangered species list. According to Hull, Boundary County is joining forces with Bonner County and Lincoln County with the suit. Commissioner Dan Dinning stated, "that is has been a pleasure working with other counties on natural resource issues".
