Pearl plans all-star season

| August 11, 2016 1:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — An all-star season is coming up at the Pearl Theater for 2016-2017. Season tickets will be available at The Pearl, 7160 Ash St., and at the upcoming membership event, “Pinot, Pilsner, and The Pearl ... Rock On!” taking place August 12. The Pearl staff invites everyone to join them as they celebrate membership at The Pearl. Here is what the theater has in store from October through April:

October 8, 7 p.m. — Soiree Orientale: Northwest Bellydance presents a performance featuring live music by Safar and dances by Aurora Fox. Swirling silks, the tinkling of bells and the soft scent of incense transform the theater to an intimate, exotic cafe. With dances from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, The Balkans, and beyond plus a modern twist, this is a performance you won’t want to miss.

January 21, 7 p.m. — Burns Night Celebration featuring Free Whiskey Trio: This annual celebration of Scottish culture is named for poet Robert Burns. Audience members can immerse themselves in the traditions, foods, beverages, poetry and music of Scotland. Share cock-a-leekie soup and Scotch eggs while listening to traditional Celtic music.

February 11, 7 p.m. — “Love Me Tender” Elvis Tribute featuring Brad Mitchell: Bring your Valentine for a night of fun and romance, or join some friends to reminisce about the King. Elvis impersonator Brad Mitchell hails from Spokane but travels to Las Vegas, Nev. and Memphis, Tenn. where he won a number of impersonator competitions. His show includes back-up singers, costume changes and a chance to experience the music of Elvis Presley.

March 25, 7 p.m. — Bullets and Belles: Tight harmonies in unique vocal arrangements describe this “neo doo wop” band out of Portland, Ore. via Salt Lake City, Utah. “Think Amy Winehouse and Dion & the Belmonts, but also Simon & Garfunkel and Taj Mahal. Their performance effortlessly glides from hard-hitting blues to soulful doo-wop, to traces of country folk.” The show will highlight a performance with a 1950s-1960s rock’n’roll feel with three-part vocal harmony.

April 22, 7 p.m. — Swing Dance with Carl Rey and the Blues Gators: This local band from Oldtown is hosting a swing dance in response to audience requests. Carl Rey is known for his strong vocals and clean harmonica sounds. He and the Blues Gators offer a varied and danceable blend of Jump, Blues and Swing that is uniquely their own. These guys and gals jam swing tunes out of the 1930s/1940s that make you want to move to the music.

In addition to the above scheduled shows, the Pearl offers an assortment of live events and performance opportunities. Look for upcoming performance announcements, including Tim Behrens, Toney Rocks, Performance Circle, Open Mic, Karaoke, and much more.
