4-H and FFA stock brings great return

BONNERS FERRY — A favorite feature of the Boundary County Fair for participants and spectators alike is the Friday evening 4-H and FFA Market Animal Sale. Many individuals and business buyers wait all year long for the chance to bid on the robust swine, beef, lambs and rabbits raised by junior stockpersons for this very event.

A popular family evening, the sale drew plenty of encouragement from younger siblings as their sisters and brothers brought out their prize animals. Members of the audience could bid on each animal, quoting what they were willing to pay per pound, and the winning bidders then had a photo taken with the animal and its owner.

Energy ran high as the auction progressed from rabbits through swine. Many of the 4-H and/or FFA participants planned to use their profits to purchase another stock animal to raise in the coming year.
