Busy day for Boundary County Law Enforcement

BOUNDARY COUNTY -- Wednesday, Aug. 17 was an active day for law enforcement and emergency responders in Boundary County.

The first incident involved missing and endangered Jada Miller, 18. According to Bonners Ferry Police representative, Miller was with Pattrick James Kennedy, or alias Patrick Kennedy, 25, under false pretenses. Miller unaware that Kennedy was on the Wash. State most wanted for an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a felony sex offender.

According to BFPD Lt. Christian Fry, law enforcement received a tip that Kennedy was at a camp ground up the Yaak. Miller was returned safely to Boundary County. Kennedy reportedly ran from the scene and was later apprehended without incident with the assistance of Lincoln County and Border Patrol.

Law enforcement was later dispatched to 1577 Old Highway Two Loop and set up a perimeter containment. Timothy C. Durette, 45, was contacted by Boundary County Sheriff Office after concerning behavior were reported, including possession of multiple firearms. Further investigations uncovered that Durette was a felon and in the state of Idaho, it is illegal to be in possession of a firearm.

A BCSO detective heard shooting coming from property and initiated contacted. Durette retreated into his house once contact was made. According to BCSO, Durette was seen in possession of a high powered rifle and appeared to be wearing body armor.

BCSO began the perimeter containment due to the location of the house to the road. BCSO Chief Deputy Stephens concluded the containment it was determined that there was no direct threat to the public and to continue the operation would put officers at an unnecessary risk.

Durette was apprehended later without incident.
