On Nov. 21 at about 8:15 a.m., Naples Elementary School contacted the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office to report that they had placed the school on lock down due to an intruder being on the school grounds.

According to BCSO Public Information Officer Mike Meier, the subject was acting upset and was argumentative with the school staff and refused to leave when asked.

The school was already in session and a decision was made by the school staff to place the school on lock down. Meier said that no direct threat was reported and no students were involved with the incident.

Members of the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, Bonners Ferry Police Department and the Kootenai Tribal Police responded to the school. After searching the school grounds, law enforcement confirmed that the school was secure and that there was no immediate threat, Meier said.

The subject was located approximately one half of a mile away, along Deep Creek Loop. According to Meier, the subject, Simon Beggerly, 33, of Bonners Ferry, was arrested for trespassing and transported to the Boundary County jail where he was booked.
