The BFHS band would like to invite everyone to join us Monday, Dec. 12 for our Christmas concert and silent auction. The doors will open and seating will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will start at 7 p.m. A silent auction will be held during this time featuring donated goods from both local businesses and band students.

Those who attend the concert will also have the option of participating in the annual pie-in-the-face raffle. Votes will be cast in the form of donations from among a group of select students. Raffle tickets will also be sold for the opportunity to deliver the pie. The pie will then be thrown into the face of our two “lucky” top-grossing winners.

Proceeds from the fundraisers will help provide financial support to students who want to go on the band trip this spring. This trip will give students the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in one of North America’s most beautiful auditoriums, the Winspear Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Participation in the annual Cantando Festival will enhance us as musicians, and will provide memories that will long outlast high school.

This concert is the latest event in a run of incredibly successful fundraisers throughout the 2016-17 school year. The band started off the year with the Swing Street Jazz Concert, where 100 percent of the proceeds went towards the spring trip. Before the concert, jazz band students spent a decent portion of their afternoon learning from professionals among the jazz industry. Later that night, the jazz band and members of the Bonners Ferry community were invited to attend the Swing Street concert, and the jazz band was even invited to play alongside them for the final song of the night.

Following this, the band hosted their annual spaghetti feed concert, where again, all proceeds from community participation went back into supporting the band. There has been a fantastically appreciated and indispensable amount of support from the community, parents and families of band students throughout this school year, and without them, events such as our 50/50 raffle at one of the football games would never have become a reality.

The band merely asks that members of the community give a small part of their night to help support the band as they raise funds for their trip in the spring. In return, attendees will receive a night of good music, holiday cheer, and no shortage of entertainment.
