The Bonners Ferry varsity wrestling team had its first home meet of the season, a double dual versus Cour d’Alene Charter and Riverside, on Thursday, Dec. 1.

The Badgers had their way with the visiting wrestlers, winning both duals by a significant margin — 60-15 against Cour d’Alene and 57-27 against Riverside — and effectively announcing to the rest of the Intermountain League that Bonners Ferry is the school to beat this year.

Mason Eby had a sub-one minute pin in the dual against Cour d’Alene, with four of his teammates (Denton Eby, Slater Copley, TJ Smith and Matt Varelman) scoring pins in under two minutes.

The wrestlers from Riverside put up more of a fight, only allowing one Bonners Ferry wrestler (Tyler Beazer) to score a pin in less than two minutes. The Badgers, however, were clearly the dominant team out on the mat and they chalked up four pins to the Rams’ one.

The Badgers will travel to Kellogg on Dec. 9 to compete in the George Wild Tournament.
