Cheryl Jean Adkison
Cheryl Jean Adkison, 72, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Life Care Center in Sandpoint, Idaho. Cherry is remembered for her humor, faith, spirit of service, and deep care for all those around her.
Cherry was born in Spokane, Wash., on July 19, 1944, to Thomas and Bonnie Adkison. After graduating from Lewis and Clark High School, Cherry spent time traveling in Europe. Upon returning to the United States, Bremerton, Wash., became home while she pursued a degree in the medical field. Upon graduating, she took a job at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. Her love for the Pacific Northwest soon called her back and Seattle became home.
It was there that she met Larry “Jake” Jacobson, husband of 17 years, and father of her two children, Trillany and Brodie. They settled in Port Townsend, Wash., to raise their family. Cherry was an active member of the Port Townsend Seventh Day Adventist Church and cultivated many wonderful friendships in the community. She carried that tradition with her when she moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, in 1998.
Hobbies such as gardening, knitting, and crocheting provided her pleasure, but being a grandmother to her two granddaughters brought her joy.
Cherry is survived by her son, Brodie Jacobson of Sandpoint, Idaho; her daughter Trillany Solomon and son-in-law, Marty James Solomon, of Tampa, Fla.; her two grand-daughters, Elise and Adrienne Gammage, of Tampa, Florida; her brother, Drexel Reed Adkison, of Vashon Island, Wash.; and her two sisters, Sarah Lynn Adkison of Eugene, Ore., and Kristen Hattie Goodman of Sandpoint, Idaho.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Craig Loyal Adkison.
A celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held in Port Townsend, Wash., near her birthday in July, 2017.
Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Cherry’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
