Registrations due for forestry program

Registrations for UI Extensions’s Annual Forest Health Program in Cour d’Alene are due Dec. 9.

Animals, plants, insects and diseases can sometimes impede reforestation, wildlife habitat, or other forest stewardship goals. “Current Topics in Forest Health” is an annual program that updates forest owners, foresters, and others on methods to improve forest health. Topics to be covered this year include: new and updated forest herbicides, phenology and forest insects, and using drones for weed control and other forestry applications.

“Current Topics in Forest Health” will be held in Cour d’Alene from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Cour d’Alene Inn (located off Interstate 90 at Highway 95 exit). The program is eligible for five Idaho pesticide license re-certification credits, five Society of American Foresters continuing forestry education credits, and five Idaho Pro-Logger continuing education credits. The program can accommodate up to 100 people. Participants should pre-register by Friday, Dec. 9. to ensure their place (registration forms are available at local University of Idaho Extension Offices). A $24 registration fee ($26 for online registration with a credit card at www.uidaho.edu/ForestHealth) covers handouts and refreshments.
