Adam Hall to host free wrestling clinic at BFHS on Dec. 23
Bonners Ferry High School wrestling legend Adam Hall will return to his hometown of Bonners Ferry to host a free wrestling clinic on Dec. 23. The clinic will take place in the Bonners Ferry High School wrestling room from 9 to 11 a.m.
The clinic is only for members of the Bonners Ferry Wrestling Club (BFWC), however. Linda Hall, who is stepping down as President of the Wrestling Club this year, told the Herald, “There are lots of people who would like to attend, but this is kind of our special gift for the kids who give up their time, and who have really dedicated themselves to wrestling.”
Linda, Adam’s mother, explained that her son gets paid thousands of dollars to host clinics like this one all around the country, but he is hosting this clinic free of charge as a way of giving back to the local community that gave him so much support as a young wrestler.
Hall has hosted these free clinics a handful of times since graduating from high school in 2006.
After graduation, Hall wrestled at Boise State, where he was a two-time NCAA Division 1 All-American. He then took an assistant coaching job at Columbia University for four years, where he was able to earn his Master’s Degree. He then moved down to North Carolina, and is currently the assistant wrestling coach for the NC State Wolfpack.
Linda says that while she is happy to have her son home for Christmas, members of the BFWC are even more excited about his visit. Some of the local wrestlers involved with the club might only be knee-high to a grasshopper, but they are a determined and committed group of youngsters.
“Our club wrestlers that are now in middle school have been wrestling since they were five years old,” Linda says. “Our goal is to eventually develop a state championship team with these wrestlers.”
If winning the district tournament is any indication, then this year’s middle school squad is well on their way to achieving that goal. Hopefully Adam Hall can help them get there by passing along some of the knowledge he has accumulated over the years as a competitive wrestler.
