Leland “Ray” Jelinek

Leland “Ray “Jelinek left us peacefully at the age of 69 on January 26, 2016 at the Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, ID after a courageous year long battle with cancer. 

A memorial service will be held for Lee February 6, 2016 @ 1pm, Mountain Springs Church in Bonners Ferry ID, with a gathering at the Legion Hall to follow.  

Lee was born July 26, 1946 to Duane Leroy Jelinek and Maxine Culver Jelinek.  He attended grade school in Grandview, WA, Cocolalla, ID, and Naples, ID.  After graduating High School from Bonners Ferry in 1965 Lee went to work for Safeway as a meat cutter working for 44 years with most of which time was spent at the store in Bonners Ferry, ID.  

Outside of work Lee enjoyed working with his cows, riding horses, road trips on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hiking, camping and spending time with friends and family.  

Lee leaves behind his best friend and love of his life Kelly Kizer Jelinek, his children Mike(Kim)Jelinek, Shelley(Chad)Deitz, Wayne(Harley)Jelinek, Jody(Pat) Hendrickson, step sons, Thad, Matthew, AJ, Reed and Connor Bennett.  Siblings Lonny(Linda)Jelinek, Linda(Bob)Hawkins, Les(Lori) Jelinek, Lynn(Karen)Jelinek and Lori.  Grandchildren Lindsay(Derek)Oxford, Dillon(Katelyn)Deitz, Derek Deitz, Mikayla Jelinek, Jansen Jelinek, Morgan Hendrickson, Hannah Hendrickson, Jacob Jelinek, Cade Jelinek and Great Grandson Miles Oxford.  Father in Law Bill Kizer, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Lee is preceded in death by his mother Maxine Jelinek 1949, father Duane Jelinek 1978, step mother Eileen Hansen Jelinek 1979 and grandson Dustin Dodge.   

Lee will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.
