Two arrested after vehicle pursuit in Bonners Ferry

| February 19, 2016 2:00 AM

On February 16, 25 year old William Woods, semi-transient and living around Boundary County, was arrested on Brown Creek Road by the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office following an approximate 2 ½ mile vehicle pursuit where Woods was the passenger.

He made an unsuccessful attempt to flee from the vehicle into a wooded area.  Woods was wanted by the Idaho Department of Corrections for violating the conditions of his parole.  Law enforcement had been actively attempting to locate Woods for his warrant.

There were significant concerns for public and officer safety due to information that he had been threatening to shoot law enforcement and had reportedly used firearms to threaten others.

The driver, 23 year old Dustin Koehler of Bonners Ferry, fled from the vehicle but was located a short time later hiding on a brush hillside.

Koehler was arrested for an outstanding felony arrest warrant and for eluding peace officers.

Members of the United States Border Patrol, Bonners Ferry Police Department and the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
