School district mandate the right thing
Much has changed over the many decades of my life, which is to be expected. I never dreamed, however, that students who have the freedom America offers would not cherish those liberties and refuse to stand and Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, the symbol of those freedoms.
Quoting from the Herald there were some whom “… turned their back on the flag and put their feet up on the desk.” I have relatives, fellow service men and friends buried in Grandview Cemetery who gave their lives for the freedom of those students. All of their coffins were covered with the American flag just before burial. There are very few atheist on the battlefield. If there are students who are offended by the words “in God,” they should stand in reverence to the flag and avoided saying those words. As the young demonstrators mature, they will find that you do certain things in life out of respect for others.
The School Superintendent’s and school board’s mandate is appreciated. Thank you!
