The Lady Badgers look to rebound heading into a busy January
After getting off to a hot start to begin the 2015-2016 season, the Lady Badgers basketball team has cooled off a bit, losing four games in a row, including its first league game against Priest River Tuesday night at home.
Head Coach Chris Chatburn said his team is getting its open looks, but the baskets just haven’t been falling.
“We’re shooting 20 percent for the last few games,” Chatburn said. “We were 3-27 Tuesday night in the first half. We’ve got to figure out a way to get the ball in the basket.”
Chatburn went on to say that a lot of it comes doen to form, something his coaches will be addressing in practice.
“We’re working on it every day,” he said. “There are times when we can attack and make an easier shot, and we don’t do it. Or we over-drive into the defense and put up a shot where if we would pull up and dribble before the shot would be appropriate. I feel we’re doing a good job running our sets, we just have to get the ball to fall. We’re putting up good shots, we’re just not making them.”
It doesn’t get any easier for the Lady Badgers as the hear into the weekend, with away games against Timberlake Friday and Coeur d’Alene Saturday.
“Timberlake is fast and athletic,” Chatburn said. “They’re going to pressure us and shoot the ball well. They can score.”
