BONNERS FERRY-When 5 year old Ezekiel Wells drives in the car with his family, he is actively searching for his favorite BFPD officer. Approximately two years ago, BFPD officer, Willie Cowell, responded to a call with Ezekiel's grandma. Since that day, the two have bonded with a deep friendship. Ezekiel will look for "Officer Willie" while they are driving around town, and if they happen to see him, Officer Willie goes out of his way to shake his hand and talk with him.

Last Thursday, July 7, was Ezekiel's last T-ball game and he wished for his favorite officer to stop by and watch his 5:30pm game. Cowell had been on patrol since early that morning, and Ezekiel's dad was not able to capture the pure excitement when their son realized who had stopped by his last game of the season.

Here is what mom, Kourtney Wells wrote on Facebook, "Thursday was Ezekiel's last T-Ball game and his one little wish was that his favorite officer would find time in his overly busy schedule to come watch him play...My son fell into a deep friendship with Officer Cowell about 2 or so years ago. He looks for him driving down the road, he waves every time he sees him and always shakes his hand and talks to him and about him. That day Officer Cowell was able to take one of his breaks at the time of the beginning of Ezekiel's game and watch him bat and run the bases. With all the happenings that happened this week in Dallas and the both positive and negative comments that have been passed around I wanted to share this!! My son was so happy and honored that he was able to take his time that should be spent to eat or call his family to come and watch him play for a few short minutes but to Ezekiel it as a life time and king of the mountain to have him there for him...Thank you Officer Cowell you made more than just his day!!"

Speaking with Ezekiel, the adoration in his eyes for Officer Cowell was obvious. When asked about how he feels while looking for Officer Willie, "it makes me happy." One can never underestimate the power of genuine kindness.
