BONNERS FERRY-Kelly Navarro, also known as "the Chicken Lady" is a local vendor at the Bonners Ferry Farmer's Market. At her space, known as Frog Hollow Farmstead, one will find a variety of cultured products, including fresh goat cheese in a variety of flavors, homemade goat milk yogurt as well as Kombucha tea, which is a healthy probiotic cultured tea. She also has a beautiful botanical sun tea that is cool and refreshing on a warm summer day at the Farmer's Market.

Navarro is also a local resource for wholesome Montana grown hormone-free, cage free chickens and turkeys at an affordable price. Chickens are available twice per year, and turkeys are available in the fall just before the holiday season. She is currently taking orders for an August 13 distribution. If you are interest in ordering for this and future distributions, her email is kellythechickenlady@rocketmail.com. This will get you on her notification list for information on how and when to fill your freezer with clean and delicious poultry.

Navarro's lifelong interest in health and nutrition lead to continue her education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she received her certification as a Holistic Health Counselor. She is passionate about experimenting with different ways of culturing and preserving foods in ways to a healthy spin on them.

Navarro has two dairy goats, Huckleberry and Butterscotch, which she milks twice daily. To ensure the purity and safety of her raw goat milk products, the milk and cheese are routinely tested by the Idaho Department of Agriculture. Previously, she has sold her cheese at Yoder's and at Aiken's; this year the babies have priority, so whatever milk is left over is collected and made into cheese. Navarro is also planning on submitting her cheese to the fair this year.

The Chicken Lady can be located at the Bonners Ferry Farmers Market or contacted by e-mail at the above email. Stop in to sample her amazing cheeses and other healthy cultured products, or drop her an e-mail to get your hands on some delicious healthy poultry.
