Save the date. On Aug. 6, at 11 a.m., there will be a community potluck picnic at Copeland Hall. The hall has been the location of the Copeland School reunion for some 20 years. But time marches on and the number of those early country school students have dwindled to the point that only a few old geezers remain to eat and burp.

However, earlier reunions were a lively affair with some 50 or more attending, including a few former teachers and students from several other country schools throughout Boundary County. Folks traveled from far and wide to reminisce with classmates and neighbors from their childhood.

Past history of the Copeland Hall includes many lively affairs, including 4H meetings and dances, card parties, fiber arts fairs, and for several years a bang-up Fourth of July celebration. The carefully groomed Copeland ball field was the scene of many competitions among very active baseball leagues, men and women.

To continue tradition at this gathering place, those former country school students invite the entire community of the Copeland area, former Mount Hall School students, anyone having had a connection with the Copeland area, to this community picnic. Gather family and friends for a good gab fest, join in a hearty meal and bring your fun and games.

The hall is available for private events like birthday parties and weddings.
