Mt. Hall and Naples head into home stretch of school year
May is here, Mount Hall and Naples have been busy, productive places for the past eight months, and I don’t think things will slow down until June 9th.
Speaking of important dates. I hope you all have April 27th marked on your calendars. April 27th is Administrative Professionals Day, also known as Secretary’s Day. I have the great privilege of working with two wonderful secretaries, Beth Butters at Mount Hall and Linda Lee at Naples. Both of these women are incredible, and they make Mount Hall and Naples a great place for students and staff.
April is also the month for ISAT testing. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been working hard all year. The teachers and students have done an incredible job preparing. I recently visited Mrs. Laura Nishek’s 4th grade class at Mount Hall and Mr. Steve Alverez’s 4th grade class at Naples. Mrs. Nishek had her students working on converting tons to pounds, and then pounds to ounces. Living in Boundary County, students were really interested in this. I imagine they were making the connection between the semi loads they see every day on their way to school and home, and thinking about how many pounds were being hauled. Mr. Alverez’s 4th graders have quite the math minds. They have been working hard all year on their math facts, and they have developed quite the reputation of being undefeatable at a Products Game. I have to admit they did beat me too. I think a rematch is in our future.
In other exciting news, Mount Hall is going to offer a Migrant Summer School, and with that a Summer Foods Program. Mount Hall will offer a free breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Thursday starting July 11th through August 4th. Any child under the age of 18 can come and eat for free. Naples is also going to offer a Summer Reading Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lunch and a p.m. snack will be served there.
It’s hard to think of next year, but I know for some little people, next year can’t come soon enough. Mount Hall had their kindergarten registration on April 14th, and we registered 20 future Wild Cats.
Naples will have their kindergarten registration on May 6th. If you are interested in having your child become a future Wolverine, please call 267-2956 and make your appointment.
A big thank you goes out to the Mount Hall PTO and staff. They pulled off a successful school carnival and spaghetti feed on April 21st. Naples just started their last HATS class of the year. The HATS program would not be possible without all the volunteers and staff. Speaking of generous people, Mount Hall and Naples want to extend a huge thank you to Atla Forest Products, Idaho Forest Group, and Dennis Fitch.
We were able to take advantage of this nice weather and make some improvements on our playgrounds.
Until next month, Go Wild Cats and Go Wolverines!
