Local Lakes
Spring is here and it is time to visit our local lakes. Boating, fishing, swimming or just skipping rocks. The Valley Studio brings us this week’s picture. Do you know what lake this is and what activity is going on? If you have an answer, please email doyouremember@meadowcrk.com. If you would like to stay anonymous, just let us know.
Last week’s picture was shared by Don Morice. The Pearson brothers, Art and Ralph, lived in this home. It was built in the 1940s in the Moyie Springs area on 80 acres they owned.
Arthur Pearson was born on Sept. 9, 1903, and his brother Ralph was born on March 13, 1905, in Flager, Colo. They were bachelors and moved to the area in 1934. Their father, August Pearson, was born Aug. 9, 1862, in Sweden and came to the U.S. when he was 6 and died in Bonners Ferry on June 11, 1946.
The brothers had worked in dairy farming before moving to Boundary County. Once here, Ralph worked for the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation. Arthur served in the US Air Force from 1942-’43. They both enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. In the summer you could find them at the local lakes and streams.
Arthur died Nov. 26, 1974, in Spokane and Ralph passed Nov. 21, 1981, in Bonners Ferry. They both are buried at Grandview Cemetery.
