BCMS ag students visit Moose Valley Farms

BCMS agriculture students took part in a learning and intriguing field trip on Thursday the 15th of April. The agriculture class visited Moose Valley Farms where they were learned how the workers take care of the plants as well as the conditions that are good for growing greenery . Also,there were baby chicks there that the students couldn’t resist holding!
After Moose Valley the class headed up to Wood’s Hay and Grain where they had a tour of the property. Students were told about the grain that is sold there and in addition how the grain is manufactured and packaged for sale.
Next stop was Wood’s V-X Ranch. There the class got to see the cattle. Students were told about the different cattle breeds, and how breeding works at the ranch. Parnell Ranch was the next stop, where the class got to see an ultrasound of a Clydesdale. The students were able to get a front row seat to see how a horse is prepped for showing. Following that, the class was shown what a horse would do for the judges during showing. Later the class was able to pet one of the Clydesdale horses!
Wood’s Meat Processing was the next destination for the agriculture class. They were shown how, where and what equipment was used to slaughter the animals.
The students got to enter the huge freezers where finished products were stored.
The student’s final agricultural stop was Wood’s Pine Tree Ranch. Here they started on a cattle ride through the fields. Next the students headed over to see twin calves, after that came the cattle chute where the livestock is held safely while getting examined, marked or receiving treatment.
The agriculture students had a blast learning everything that they did. A big thank you to the humane people that offered their time and insight about the agriculture business!
