There are so many musical festivities going on this month. On May 21st at 7:00pm in the Becker Auditorium, the BFHS drama department will be putting on an original piece written by members of the class about life in the theater from a backstage perspective. The piece is entitled “Broadway Backstage.” The music director, David Carpenter, worked with the class to incorporate a variety of songs from musicals that will be found throughout the show. Sounds interesting!

“Broadway Backstage” is not the only musical being performed this month, we also have “Grease” as well. The middle school drama class will perform a slightly different version of the show called “Grease and Beyond” on May 23rd at 7:00pm in Becker Auditorium. Who doesn’t love “Grease?” The performance includes well-known songs from “Grease,” and combines them with a genre of short dramatic and comedic scenes chosen by the students. I know that the students have been working hard at this show for over a semester.

It must be worth watching!

Moving on, we have the end of the year finales. These are the most hard-earned and outstanding concerts choir students put on at the conclusion of each year! On May 26th at 7:00pm, the BFHS Mixed and Women’s choir will perform their end of the year galas. Accompanying them the next night, the BFHS Honor Choir will perform their individual end of the year gala on May 27th at 7:00pm. Last but not least, the middle school choir is trying something new and will also perform their own end of the year gala on May 31st at 7:00pm. The musical productions will have tickets sold at the door, but all of the concerts can be seen in Becker Auditorium and are free of charge, with donations graciously accepted. We hope to see you there!
