Towns of the Past

| May 19, 2016 1:00 AM

Many small communities sprung up around the county when folks first moved here.

Do you know where this one was? Do you know the young man in the picture?

If you have an answer, please email doyouremember@meadowcrk.com. If you would like to stay anonymous, just let us know.

Last week’s picture was shared by The Valley Studio.

It was of a helicopter planting fish in one of the Roman Nose lakes. Many fish have been planted in the upper mountain lakes for wildlife and people to enjoy. They have been brought in by mule train, packs on people’s backs, and even the helicopters you see here. According to the Idaho Fish and Game website, historically in the three lakes at Roman Nose: Bull Trout, Westslope Cutthroat Trout, unspecified Rainbow Trout, Kamloops Trout and Hayspur Rainbow Triploid Trout have been planted there.

Your Boundary County Historical Society and Museum, 7229 Main, Bonners Ferry, Idaho sponsors this column. During the summer, the Museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday.
