Anna (Annie) Marie Rosco Koon, 77
Anna (Annie) Marie Rosco Koon, 77, passed away on Sept. 28, 2016, at her home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, with interment following in the Grandview Cemetery.
Annie was born on Nov. 19, 1938, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Vernon and Ethel Rosco. When she was young, the family moved to Boundary County and settled in the Curley Creek area. Annie attended Curley Creek, Buckhorn, Northside and Valley View schools as well as the old high school.
After a short marriage, a daughter, Roberta, was born and it was necessary to go to work as a waitress to support herself. Annie worked for Ester Irons and Don’s Café. While working at Don’s Café, she met the love of her life, Elden Koon, a Border patrolman who was transferred to Bonners Ferry from the Mexican border. They were married on July 17, 1963, and in May 8, 1964, David Koon was born.
Elden was later transferred to Sweetgrass, Mont., Detroit, Mich., Helena, Mont., and then back to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where they built a home on 80 acres of land on the North Bench. Because of Annie’s health problems, they moved to town and built a home in Bonners Ferry.
Annie loved animals and flowers and her pastime was golfing and bingo. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Annie is survived by her husband, Elden Koon; a son, David Koon; a daughter, Roberta Holmes; her brothers, Russell (and Marion) Rosco, Vernon and John Rosco; her beloved aunt, Valdie Burkholder; her cousins, Rockey Burkholder, Jimmy Burkholder and Teresa Becker; and well as lots of nieces and nephews, granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Fry Foundation.
Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
