Commissioners sending letter

The Boundary County Board of Commissioners submitted a comment letter to the U.S. Forest Service on Tuesday, pertaining to the proposed Grouse, Bear Management Unit Compliance Project.

This submission falls within the public comment period that was put forward by the USFS in its scoping letter, which explains in detail the organization’s requirements to comply with road density standards within the Grouse Bear Managemnt Unit, an area near McArthur Lake that lies within Boundary County.

The Board’s comment letter asks for more information regarding exactly what is being proposed for each road, and it requests a meeting with team leader Kriss Hennings. According to its letter, the Board “has large concerns regarding roads in our community that may be closed to public access.”

By involving themselves in the process, the county commisisoners hope to ensure that public access to our forests is protected for future generations of Boundary County residents.
