BONNERS FERRY -- It was a blustery day for girls and boys soccer Friday as the Badgers welcomed Stillwater Christian of Montana. The girls took the field at noon while the boys kicked off at 2 p.m.

The Badger girls prevailed during the first match with a score of Bonners Ferry 2, Stillwater 0. In the boys’ match, Stillwater made a goal late in the first half of the game, which neither team followed up on. The end result was a score of 0-1, with Stillwater claiming the victory.

The Badgers goalie made several tough saves to keep the lid on an aggressive Stillwater offense while the Badger offense deftly held their own, moving the ball consistently to their own goal, only to meet the agile defense of the Stillwater goalie.

This year’s Badger boys’ team tends toward younger players, with six freshmen, eight sophomores, four juniors and four seniors. The Badger girls’ team, on the other hand, is an older squad with only two freshmen, two sophomores and the remainder upperclassmen.

Saturday, the boys’ team heads to Orofino for a noon kick-off. The Badger girls will play the Kellogg girls in Kellogg, also at noon.
