Idaho Forest Group donates to BoCo Backpacks
BONNERS FERRY -- At this year’s Boundary County Fair, Idaho Forest Group raffled off a unit of lumber and had five wood carvings up for silent auction. All of the proceeds from the raffle and four of the auctions went to the BoCo Backpacks Program. The remaining auction went to Bonners Ferry Rotary Club Scholarship Fund.
BoCo Backpacks is a communitywide, all volunteer committee under the sponsorship of Trinity Lutheran Church, which purchases and distributes food kits during the school year at all county elementary schools and the middle school.
The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club brings together business and professional community leaders to provide humanitarian service to others within the community and the world. Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” They do this every chance they get by raising funds for scholarships, continued support of the cancer support group, hospice and educational programs in Boundary County.
IDFG also presented BoCo Backpack representative Shirley Anderson with a check for $1,400 as well as a check to Bonners Ferry Rotary for $100. All proceeds were raised through IDFG’s time at the fair.
In addition, the group donated over 100 lbs. of pork to Hope House so that they can continue to be a light on a hill for those in need within the community. Hope House is a charity based out of Moyie Springs. This charity is spearheaded by Aimee Christopherson and is dedicated to helping individuals and families in need of clothes and basic household items. Hope House provides an amazing service to the community and Idaho Forest Group members said they are proud to sponsor them. Hope House is located in Moyie Springs on the corner of Roosevelt and Division and they are open every Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.
IDFG thanks Shirley of BoCo Backpacks, the Rotary Club, and Aimee at Hope House for all they do for Boundary County.
