Post No. 190 set to explore D.C.

Explorer Post No. 190 held their final fundraiser Saturday, exceeding their goal by $204. Eight Explorers and two advisors will be attending the Law Enforcement Memorial Week in Washington D.C., beginning May 11. The memorial pays tribute to the men and women in law enforcement who have lost their lilves while in the line of duty.
“This community has proven again and again to us that it pulls together and provides it’s support for individuals or organizations whenever there is a need,” Bonners Ferry Explorer Richard Cowell said.
The Explorers raised $2,204, during their speghetti dinner and auction fundraiser at the Boundary County fairgrounds. More than 70 tickets were sold for the dinner and numerous auction items were up for bid, including two $50 gift certificates to the Kootenai River inn Springs Lounge, a room at the Kootenai River Inn, a $25 gift certificate from Riverside Auto, and a full family meal at Chic N Chop Restaurant.
Other doners included: Far North Deli, Woody’s Pawn and Gun Shop, Safeway, Super 1 Foods, Morgan’s Wood, Groove Studio (Diane Stover), Rhonda Vogl, Kyle Watts, Lael Alexander, Carter Country, Production Bow, Vinyl Expresssions, Frank Christiansen, The Pearl Theatre, and Ron Sukenik who emcee’d the event.
The Explorers raised a total of $15,648 for their trip to Washington D.C.
Cowell said several people donated more money so that the Explorers could stay one extra day and explore the Nation’s Capitol.
