Spring Run Off

| April 27, 2017 1:00 AM

There was a mix up in last week’s column. New pictures were given, but the old story was reprinted. I think we were just so excited the snow was gone and we were blinded by the sunshine!

There is a lot of water in the creeks and rivers right now, so we bring you this picture. Do you recognize this area? Do you know which falls this is? A real long shot, do you know these men? If you have an answer, please email doyouremember@meadowcrk.com or call the museum. If you would like to stay anonymous, just let us know.

The church shown in last week’s picture was the Assembly of God Church when it was under construction and is currently the Bonners Ferry Baptist Church. It is located on Cody St. in the area of Jackson and Van Buren. Jim Stanch, Grace Schuon Leidt, Nevin Neal and Tom Allinger recognized the building.

Virginia Howard provided more information on the American Legion picture we shared a couple of weeks ago. She tells us that this was the firing squad and color guard at a funeral. Left to right she recognized Les Howard, Art Zimmerman, Bob Nystrom, Bud Lipton, Ray Houck, Bill Eddy, Bob Pace, and Watt Prather. Also, serving at funerals were Eddie Evans, Don Howe and Hap Kruegel, so they are most likely in line also. This group would serve at all funerals when requested by a family.

Now sometimes the museum can surprise itself. Research was being conducted on another subject and we found the American Legion picture in History of Boundary County Idaho Volume II on page 92. So, for a complete list of names, you can look there!

Your Boundary County Historical Society and Museum, 7229 Main, Bonners Ferry, Idaho sponsors this column. Starting May 2nd, the museum will begin the summer hours, they will be open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To help maintain the buildings, a small entrance fee is requested. It is $2 per person or $5 per family. There is no charge for those under 14 years old or for the Boundary County Historical Society members. Visit the website at www.boundarycountymuseum.org for a list of the latest events or we can be reached at 208-267-7720.

What is going on at the museum you ask? So much that we can’t list it all. We invite you down to see the changes for yourself. We hope to see you soon!
