Night at the Nativity brings world to Bonners Ferry

This scene depicts Joseph holding baby Jesus, which is very rare.
BONNERS FERRY — The fourth annual Night at the Nativity event at the Bonners Ferry Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brought together community members to enjoy the display of nativity scenes and music.
“Usually we have about 400 people that attend over the two days that the items are displayed,” said Lisa Carle. “The first year we held this event, we had about 100 nativity scenes, and this year we have just over 230.”
There were nativity scenes from all over the world, a crochet scene, a hand carved scene, and even some homemade scenes, all with great detail.
Hallie and Hana Hartman worked together to make a nativity scene out of Lego’s, and Tyson Dickson made one out of Play-doh. Dr. Chad Burt of Bonners Ferry Veterinary Clinic carved a nativity scene of Joseph leading Mary on the donkey into a white pumpkin and put it on display as well.
The Community Choir and musicians from the community filled the halls of the church with music on Friday, Dec. 1.
“What we are hoping for next year is combining the Lutheran Church’s community choir with ours as they are looking for a new director,” said Carle. “So we can do this and have them perform.”
With the display of nativity scenes, the community members brought iconic items from their homes and hearts out for all to enjoy.
