Norma Jean (Hansen) Estep

Norma Jean (Hansen) Estep, 83, passed away quietly and peacefully in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., on Nov. 3, 2017 with family by her side following a short term illness. A memorial service will be held when family and friends can be together.

Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was educated, witty, informed and always quick with a warm smile and funny thought.

Norma believed in a life of service and valued education. She served many years as an elected official for Boundary County. She worked with students as a substitute teacher, was a member of the United Methodist Church, and the local PEO Chapter

Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 49 and half years, Jan. She is survived by her daughter Jill Hammond and husband Chris of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; her son Mark Estep and wife Rosa of Eastvale, Calif.; and grandchildren Amber and Christopher Hammond and Drake and Alexa Estep all of California. Norma is also survived by her brother Harold Hansen of Cambridge, Minn., Sister Betty Jo Eneboe of Homer, Alaska and sister Nancy Olkon of Medina, Minn.

A quote from an unknown author on her desk reflects some of her personal values: “The purpose of life is not to just be happy, but to matter: to be responsible, to be productive, to be useful, to help others, to have it make a difference that you lived at all.”

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Fry Healthcare Foundation at the Boundary Community Hospital.
