Clay Target Youth Club seeks more shooters

| December 21, 2017 12:00 AM

We had four Jr. shooters today, two others called in sick. The weather was good for the middle of December, 35 degrees, no wind some sun.

The shooters have a quick gun safety meeting before shooting their first round of 25 targets. All are improving each week. Takes a few rounds to get used to and remember how and where each gun shoots. There have been scores of 24x25, 23x25, 21’s, 18 and 19’s. The shooters all start with scores of 11 and 12 out of 25. All have improved in just three weeks time.

I was a little worried about teenagers at first, but after the first time coaching all is well, as I was very impressed at how attentive and respectful every student is, and especially about the gun safety and listening to an old man.

The B.F. Gun Club and BF High School Youth Shooters wish to thank an anonymous couple for their donation of a new over under trap gun to the Youth Trap Shooters. It is for them to use if they do not have a gun to use. Far North Outfitters are to be commended also on their contribution towards the purchase of the gun. There is an account set up at the High School for anyone wanting to donate any deductible amount or contribute to the Trap Shooting Team.

The team and account is named “Dukes Clay Busters,” in memory of Terry “Duke” Guthrie, A BF High School Graduate, former school teacher, county ext. agent and one of the best trap shooters in the Northwest.

The club has room for more young shooters, would really like to see some young Ladies turn out, I’m sure there are a few who can shoot as well if not better than the guys.

Remember 10 a.m. Saturdays, Hot Chili and warm club house.
