BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry wrestlers continue to take to the mat at the Idaho Middle School State Championships.

Eli Richards went 5-0 and Andrew Sandelin went 4-0 to take first place, Kyle Smith placed fourth. Jake Summerfield and Marcus Regehr both won 4 and lost two but missed placing by a match.

“With a just five boys wrestling and scoring team points, they placed 11th out of 56 teams, while the other teams that placed above them had 10 to 25 kids Wrestling and scoring points,” said coach Corey Richards. “Dalton Regehr also wrestled in the folkstyle festival being held at the same place and went 4-0 to take first place, winning a belt buckle.”

With all of the hard work and competitions, the wrestling team continues to battle on.

“All the boys wrestled very tough and showed a tremendous amount of heart in their matches,” said Richards.
