BONNERS FERRY — Rotary was proud to sponsor the 2017 Annual District Spelling Bee for Boundary County. Elementary school students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade came to the Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry for the oral competition on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Volunteers from the Bonners Ferry Rotary, Naples Helping Hands, Free Methodist Church and Boundary County School District 101 helped students traverse their way through the competition.

Students who took first place won a $30 gift card to Bonners Books and second place students won a $20 gift card to Bonners Books. Students in 4th and 5th grades who took first will be invited to the Regional Spelling Bee to be held March 18 at the NIC campus in Coeur d’Alene.

The students were well prepared for the competition and worked really hard in each of their divisions. Thanks to the parents who worked so hard with their children.
