Dear Gary, David, Lisa, Nathan, and Robin,
Another pair of Spelling Bees have come and gone. The District Elementary Bee was rescheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2017 and the Middle School Bee was rescheduled to Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
The results are as follows:
3rd Grade – Jacoby Wenzel – First Place, Valley View; Brodie Bustillios – Second Place, Mt. Hall
4th Grade – Rylie Kimball – First Place, Valley View; Myah Francis – Second Place, Naples
5th Grade – Ana Chase – First Place, Mt. Hall; Chris Meyer – Second Place – Mt. Hall
6th Grade – Tyler Stockdale – First Place; Morgan Moon – Second Place
7th Grade- Camille Ussher – First Place; Alana Branson – Second Place
8th Grade – Regina Claphan – First Place; Lauren Onstott – Second Place
Bonners Ferry Rotary sponsored the prizes for all six grade levels at $30.00 and $20.00. They provided the following members to assist with the bees:
Linda Alt and Wilma Devore as Coordinators
Kristie Campbell, Glenda Poston, and Dave Gray as Judges
Naples Helping Hands provided the pronouncers for the elementary bee on Jan. 28th:
Amy Anderson, Linda Cromwell, Nancy Myers and Bob Saboe served as pronouncer for all the Middle School levels.
Connie Perez and Ruth Loveland assisted in the printing of programs, certificates, and rounds sheets. As you can easily see, it takes many people working together to make the Bees run smoothly and efficiently.
There were 35 students participating from grades 3-5, and 30 from grades 6-8.
First place winners in grades 4-8 will be invited to the Regional Bee at North Idaho College on March 18, 2017. Second place winners act as alternates, but are encouraged to attend just for the experience of another level of competition. All names and contact information has been submitted to Mindy Patterson at NIC.
Once again, thank you all for supporting the students of Boundary County School District 101 in this academic competition. Your financial support is appreciated, but the staff support to help the Bees happen is an even greater appreciation.
Until next year…
Dottie Gray
