Re: Climate change

Open letter To My Congressmen:

I am a science guy and I read reports and from the scientific community on climate change.

These reports are based on the same science, physics and chemistry that bring us the advances in technology that we as members of an industrialized twenty-first century society now enjoy.

Yet you, as a member of that society deny that same science when it comes to climate change. I do not know you personally, but I imagine that you are a reasonably intelligent person to have been successfully elected to your current position, so, for you to take your current stand on this issue can only mean one of two things.

Either you are ignorant of the science on the subject, which is a curable malady, or you are only interested in being elected regardless of the cost to your constituents, future generations, your state, your country, and your planet.

If you have any honor or a conscience I implore of you to do honest research of reliable scientific sources. Peer reviewed science is the most reliable source of information on any scientific matter. Here are some links to reliable sources. There are many other sources if you bother to look.

I know you are a member of the Republican Party. It is the only major political party in the world that denies climate science. Maybe the Republican Party is smarter than the rest of the world and 97% of climate scientists, but the overwhelming odds are that they are wrong.

I think it is time that you broke ranks from your party and become a leader in solving this problem instead of being a stooge for the fossil fuel industry. If you bother to do the research I have suggested, your course of action will be apparent. If you continue on your current course, history will not be kind to you.

Instead of your legacy being a legislator that helped solve the problem and save the planet, you will be remembered as one who helped screw it up. If you have children or grand children, you will be stealing quality of life from them, and for millions of other people, stealing life itself.

For the sake of the planet and all the creatures on it, including humans, you need to change your view of climate change. I’m not asking you to believe me, I’m asking you to make an honest effort to check it out for yourself. Climate change is everyone’s problem; it should not be a political issue.
