Beginning Monday, Jan. 9, the Senior Hospitality Center will begin the winter session of the “Fit and Fall Proof Class”.

This free class will run 12 weeks, from Sept. 19, until March 31.

The class is specifically targeted for older adults or anyone who would like to improve their fitness or has a history of falling or a fear of falling. The class will take you safely through a process of improving strength, flexibility, mobility, balance and endurance.

The instructor is Karen Meeker, a physical therapist and a Feldenkrais® practitioner. Based on her knowledge of movement and the importance of attention in learning to move more easily, we will be addressing functional topics such as: posture improvement, coming up from sitting to standing, reaching for the floor, coming up from the floor, reaching into a cupboard, turning to look behind you in your car — all those activities that typically become more difficult with age.

During this process, you will learn strategies to help you ease pain and discomfort, prevent injury, increase energy, reduce stress and improve concentration.

With the use of music and other “toys” the sessions are fun and engaging. Do we stop playing because we get older or do we get older because we stop playing?

Come and play with us at the Senior Hospitality Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:45-11:45 a.m.

Information: 208-267-5554 to pre-register.
