Swish, the largest 3 on 3 basketball tournament to be held in Boundary County is coming soon. Do you have a team? Are you ready for the challenge? These girls played for a local school a few years ago. Do you recognize them? Do you know which school they played for? Do you know the year? Last week we shared a picture of downtown Bonners Ferry all decked out for the Fourth of July. Based on the businesses in the picture, we estimate it was taken between 1910 and 1917. The street was dirt and used by both horse drawn carriages and automobiles. On the east side of Main Street are signs reading Ladley-Photographer, St. Louis Restaurant, Water & Light and Drugs. The west side signs show us the location of the Theater and Harness Shop. What a busy town we were 100 years ago!

Your Boundary County Historical Society and Museum, 7229 Main, Bonners Ferry, Idaho sponsors this column. During the summer, we will be open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To help maintain the buildings, a small entrance fee is requested. It is $2 per person or $5 per family. There is no charge for those younger than 14 for the Boundary County Historical Society members. First Free Saturday was a success! If you missed this one, the next will be Aug. 5. In the meantime, add July 15, to your calendar for the dedication of the new interpretive signs to mark, the Crossing of the Kootenai, Electrifying Bonners Ferry and Solving Power Problems. This will take place at 1 p.m. on the north end of Main Street near the Pelton Wheel. See you there!
