Novinger brings back Children's Choir
Novinger Music Center and The Pearl Theater announce Summer Children’s Choir, starting on the last day of school, June 8 at 2 p.m. Students who register for this choir can expect a high-quality 10-week program, meeting faithfully at The Pearl Theater each Thursday, from noon to 1 p.m.
Choir members will learn vocal warm-ups and proper singing techniques through a variety of repertoire, including sacred and secular music selections appropriate for children. Children participating must attend rehearsals faithfully, in preparation for performances at The Community Restorium, The Pearl Theater, and The Boundary County Fair
Participation is $10 per session, a total of $100 for the summer. A 5 percent sibling discount applies. Fees pay for music, performance materials, and professional instruction. Payment is due before June 8, or fees may be divided into two payments, half due prior to first rehearsal. Registration forms are available at Novinger Music Center, located in downtown Bonners Ferry.
Choir Director Glenda Novinger shares more than forty years of experience in music education and performance. Her background includes professional education and small ensemble experiences, with degrees in Piano Performance and Music Education, as well training as a Piano adjudicator for the Music Teachers’ Association of California. She recently led the Bonners Ferry Community Orchestra in their successful performance, “Spring Into Summer.” Novinger is a seasoned teacher, leading choirs of several hundred children in schools, churches, communities, and recording studios.
In a recent letter to The Pearl, Novinger celebrated their partnership in this endeavor: “Here’s to the musical enrichment of the Bonners Ferry Children!”
While the Summer Choir is produced and directed by Novinger Music Center, The Pearl Theater supports it in their mission to foster the performing arts throughout Boundary County. Rehearsals will occur at The Pearl, located at 7160 Ash Street in Bonners Ferry, just south of the Casino. Turn East off of Highway 95 and look for the steeple.
