Last week we shared a picture of the Gale family in front of the Bonner Water and Light Company.
Harry Gale, the eldest son of Edward and Ida Gale, constructed a power plant on Myrtle Creek. The powerplant was financed by Albert Featherstone, an attorney of Wallace, Idaho. It would be known as the Bonner Water and Light Company. It was completed and operating in the summer of 1907. In 1908 Harry sent for his parents, who were living in Ypsilanti, Mich., to operate the plant. The Gales would run the plant for many years. After World War I, the Village of Bonners Ferry bought out the electric and water system from Judge Featherstone and operated it for themselves. This plant would be used until the early 1920’s when a new one was built on the Moyie River.
