Kootenai River Run adds team category

| June 22, 2017 1:00 AM

Gather together five friends to participate in the new team category of the Kootenai River Run 5K this year. Team winners will be determined by the combined times of the five team members. Declare your team affiliation on race day, Saturday, July 1.

The 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) races begin and end at the Boundary County Fairgrounds and bring participants in and around Bonners Ferry. Aid stations and entertainment are positioned throughout the course.

In addition to the team category, there are the regular gender and age categories. The overall male and female finisher in each run will be presented a trophy. Ribbons will be given to the top three finishers in each of the male and female age groups from 0-11 years to 70 plus years. Door prizes are drawn during the award ceremony and the grand prize is a $100 gift certificate towards the purchase of a new pair of running shoes.

Entry fee is $25 ($33 Canadian) with a T-shirt or $10 ($13 Canadian) without the t-shirt. A limited number of extra shirts are available on race day.

Participants can register on race day, without a late fee, from 7:30-8:45 a.m. at the Boundary County Fairgrounds. The race starts at 9 a.m.

The run is sanctioned by USA Track and Field and is sponsored by Northwest Academy, Boulder Creek Academy and Idaho Forest Group.
