BONNERS FERRY — On June 17, the second annual Color Blast Run took place, put on by the Bonners Ferry High School Volleyball Team and Coach Kendra Maas. Each station was sponsored by a local business that showered the runners in colored chalk as they passed.

Runners of all ages sported the T-shirts made by Vinyl Expressions, with the sponsors names displayed on the back. A grand turnout of approximately 140 people made the 5K run in support of the BFHS Volleyball Fund, which helps with items needed throughout the season.

“First of all I want to thank the sponsors; Iron Mikes Gym, Mountain Shed Center, Stockton Business Services, General Feed & Grain, Oxford INC, Vinyl Expressions and Bonners Ferry Vet Clinic that helped make this run possible,” said Maas. “We are so grateful that we have such a wonderful community that helps!”

The combination of a sun filled morning, a run by the Kootenai River, and smiling faces painted a rainbow of colors made for a successful day. The top six runners who finished in less than 25 minutes were: Jim McElwain, Dawson Thomas, Erick Ellis, Nick Ziadle, Scott Davis and Darce Claus.

“To every single runner that joined this year to make this run so fun and growing, thank you!” Maas said.
