Support the school levy
Article IX of the Constitution of the United State of Idaho makes it “the duty of the legislature of Idaho to establish and maintain a general, uniform and thorough system, free common schools.”
Although recent legislatures have battered Idaho schools by expanding options for building schools and making teaching a more compelling field for Idaho’s college graduates; there are still shortfalls in funding.
In rural North Idaho, most districts, including Boundary County, are forced to rely on local levies to maintain programs at current levels.
Boundary County’s School Board of Trustees continue to exhibit a conservative fiduciary policy in regard to its requests for an operational levy. The new request is the same as the expiring levy. In real dollars, this is actually a decrease. I urge everyone to support this levy on March 14.
