BONNERS FERRY — The weekend of Feb. 24, the Bonners Ferry High School girls cheer team, traveled down and spent all day in the Post Falls, competing against Districts 1A-5A for a chance to go to state.

They only took two routines to Districts this year.

The girl’s cheer squad won 1st in Palms, with state qualifiers, and were beat out half a point by Timberlake in Sideline. That was a significant loss for the girls, as Timberlake had a Cheer team of roughly 20 members, compared to the significantly smaller badgers team.

The girls will be headed to State for Palms, which is set to be held March 18, at the Ford Idaho Center. The Bonners Ferry High School will be sending the following students to State;

Hannah Sims junior, Michaela Worley junior, Kade Ray senior, Abby Eliassen junior, Bailey Jenkins junior, Katie Summerfield freshman, Jennica Branson junior.

The Cheer team and the Dance team will be going down to State together on the 16. The girls say Sugar Salem is always a tough team to beat, but they are looking forward to a win. “Champions are made in practice.” is the motto the Badgers Cheer squad has kept in the forefront as they prepare for State. Keep an ear out, as these girls go out and fight to bring home the Title of State Champions.
