BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners ferry dance team went to Districts in Post Falls, competing mainly against Orofino. They qualified for state in four categories. Kick, Dance, Hip-Hop, and Prop.

“We are very fortunate to have the skills and coaching needed to beat them.” Said Mayla Roberts.

The state competition will be held on March 17th, and is looking like it will be an all day event for the girls. They will be headed down to the Ford Idaho Center with the Cheer squad on the 16th.

“State is really exciting, and fun to see. It is a big challenge, but brings the girls together for good bonding.” said Dance Coach Lisa Dirks, “The girls have been working hard all season, and are excited to show off their new competition routine specifically for State.”

The girls who will be going are listed as follows: Maya Roberts junior, Ashlyn Hittle junior, Lillian Goad freshman, Alexandra Hough junior, Jaeda Schnuerle junior, Ashley Gray sophomore, Kianna Higgins junior, Lindsey Christopherson sophomore, Sierra Brown junior, Ashlynn Rushland junior, Cameron Haworth senior, Lexie Lesbesque senior, Haley Wenk junior, and Courteney Facha junior.

These passionate girls are set on bringing home the victory,

“No one really takes us seriously, but here we are, going to State, just like any other sport.” The team is hoping that, with the potential win, it will change school priority, and see that the Dance team is treated as such.

“Right now, we practice in the lunchroom. We would like to get afforded the same as any other sports team, proper room and time to practice.” they said.

The Badgerettes are excited to go down and fight for the Bonners Ferry standing in the Championship.

“There is one saying sums up all that we want to represent; ‘There is nothing else, where you can loose yourself and find yourself all in the same moment.” The team said.

The determination of these young ladies is evident, and they are ready for any competition that comes their way.
