Dear Parents & Guardians,

There is an important M&O Levy Election on Tuesday, March 14. Facts about the M&O Levy can be found on the Boundary County School District website at www.bcsd101.com. As a result of past support many projects have been sustained in BCSD including safe and secure schools, growth in technology, and maintaining instructional support personnel. I encourage you to participate in this decision by voting on Tuesday, March 14. This replacement levy is for the same amount approved in 2015. Therefore, you should see no change in your tax obligation for schools.

Information on voting:

You may vote early at the Boundary County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

If you are not registered to vote, you may register at the polls on Election Day.

Be sure to bring photo identification as well as proof of your physical address. If your physical address is not on your identification, you may bring a utility bill, rent receipt or other documentation of your physical address.

You may also register at the Boundary County Courthouse and vote early at the same time. Early voting begins Monday, Feb. 13, and ends Friday, March 10.

You must vote in your precinct, where you vote in any other election.

IN RELATED NEWS:

Early this year we formed the Budget and Financial Understanding Committee.

This group, listed below, is made up of 5 community members, 4 teachers, 2 administrators, 1 board member, and our new Business Manager.

The purpose of the committee is to improve the education of students by providing recommendations to the Board of Trustees concerning financial issues facing Boundary County School District. During the beginning of the year this group focused on the need of the Supplemental M&O Levy.

Any recommendations made by the Budget and Finance Committee will be given careful consideration by the Board, but such recommendations will not relieve the Board of its legal responsibility to make final decisions about such matters. The Budget and Finance Committee meets in the District Office on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 PM. They will hold open discussion of the Annual State Report sent to the Department of Education and Annual Audit completed by Leonard Schulte. These monthly reports can be found on the district website.

These meetings are open to the public.
