Gary Barrett Buehler
Gary Barrett Buehler passed away peacefully at his home on February 28, 2017. A private graveside service was held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Grand View Cemetery.
Gary was born August 10, 1937 in Sacramento, California. He was the only child of Jacob Emil Buehler and Della Isadore Barrett Buehler. He spent his childhood years growing up on the Barrett family ranch under the watchful eye of his beloved grandmother, Rosalie O’Donnell Barrett.
Gary learned the trade of meat cutting starting at the age of 14 at Buehler Brothers Meat Company in Sacramento, California. That trade served him throughout his lifetime. In the summer of 1994 Gary moved his family to North Idaho in search of a more quiet and peaceful life. He found that peace in Boundary County.
Gary had a passion for life, whatever he did he did well and at full throttle. If a little was good then a lot must be better! In his lifetime he enjoyed riding motorcycles, scuba diving, dirt bikes, hunting, fishing, gardening and family vacations. He loved antiques and yard sales and was a familiar face at Sater’s Auction.
As his health declined Gary found joy and comfort in his close knit family. The achievements of his grandkids made him proud. At family gatherings he would be the one holding the sleeping child. He will be missed!
Gary is survived by his best friend and wife of 42 years, Peggy Buehler, his daughters Eileen Buehler of Fair Oaks, California, Nati Summerfield of Moyie Springs, Idaho and daughter and son-in-law Becka and Aaron Hegge also of Moyie Springs, Idaho. Grandchildren Jeff, Whitney, Katie, Jake, Sam, Mary, and Sara and great grandsons Cooper and Finn. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Della Buehler and daughter Jeanette Buehler.
“My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
It gives a lovely light!”
